Reconstructive surgery after transverse myelitis brings function back to Roberto’s hands
When Dr. Cheng first began treating Roberto, he was only 11 years old. He had lost function of his hands at 3 months of age, and came to Dr. Cheng to continue his course of reconstructive surgery after transverse myelitis. A carefully planned series of reconstructive procedures over the next 11 years gradually gave Roberto back the ability to use both hands for everyday activities. We were ecstatic when Roberto wrote to tell us that he had graduated from college with a bachelor’s degree in psychology, with matriculation to graduate school for advanced study in Industrial Organizational Psychology. Congrats Roberto!!! We are so proud of you…
